 AI Issues and Concerns

AI has become part of our life. Computing, Internet, Robotics, and AI are playing crucial role in all sectors. Development in AI has also raised many issues and challenges.

1) Bias and Discrimination: AI systems are trained using training data. if training data has bias, the AI system will give biased result. It will take wrong decision and give problem to a particular group.

2) AI Mistakes: Insight given by AI systems are used for taking crucial decisions in companies, so it will lead to wrong decision. and big losses.

 

3) Privacy Risks: AI systems and apps are used in smart devices to lock them using pattern, face recognition and body movements. Person wearing a mask can unlock these devices.

4) Job Loss: Machines powered with AI systems are working efficiently without any break which has reduced the workload in company. They are replacing human workers, so companies are terminating their employees.

 

5) Automatic Weapons: Missiles and antimissiles are based on AI system, so any malfunctioning of AI system can raise war among countries. 

Ethical Frameworks of AI

Framework is a set of rules which guides to resolve a problem. It provides step by step methods to handle any issue. The framework can be updated after sometime. Ethics helps to decide what is wrong and right.

Need of Ethical Framework

1) Effect on Employment: AI systems are replacing many professional jobs which is raising unemployment. There should be a procedure to give training to those workers, so that they can adjust in the changing environment. 

2) Transparency: AI systems are helping in crucial departments to take decisions like in healthcare, finance. It should be transparent to general public that how AI systems take decisions.

3) Privacy: AI systems are using personal data in statistical data analysis to assist, so the personal data should be protected and used responsibly. 

4) Bias: AI system are used in hospital and other departments. it should treat every equally. It should not favour one group than other. It should give opportunities to everyone.

Type of Ethical Frameworks

1) Sector Based Ethical Frameworks: The sector based ethical framework focus on specific industries like Medical, IT, Banks, Transport. For example IT industries focus on data privacy and security.

Types of Ethical Framework

   i) Bioethics: Bioethics is related to more than one sector which is used to take touch decisions. It takes ideas from philosophy, law, medical to help doctors and patients. Bioethics confirms that all decision are fair and taken in the welfare of all people.

2) Value Based Ethical Frameworks: The value based ethical framework is based over ethical values like honesty, respected, equality, trust. It helps to check that the result taken by AI system is right or wrong.

      i) Right Based Ethical Frameworks: This ethical framework is based on individuals rights. This principal ensures that action taken by AI system follows on human rights and doesn't give priority to a specific group.

      ii) Utility Based Ethical Frameworks: This ethical framework focuses on welfare of all people and reducing harms. It protects personal data and protects bias decision taken against human race.

    iii) Virtue Based Ethical Frameworks: This ethical framework gives important to moral values like kindness, empathy, trust, and honest which would help in taking right decision. These ethical frameworks are following in AI project cycle.

The principal of bioethics frameworks helps in taking right decision in health, medicine, and biological science. It confirms that decisions taken for patients are fair, respect human rights.
