What do you mean by Sustainable Development?
Sustainable Development is made of two thoughts. Sustainable means maintain at certain level and Development means growth.
So Sustainable Development means a development that meets the requirement of the present generation without damaging the nature and preserving the nature for future generation.
The concept of Sustainable Development was derived in 1987, from the United Nations World Commission on the Environment and Development Report, Our Common Future, commonly called the Brundtland Report.
Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
-World Commission on Environment and Development
What is the importance of Sustainable Development?
These are the benefits of Sustainable Development:
1) Sustain Biodiversity -
In nature ecosystem plays an important role where all species depends
on each other. However, they are small like insect or extremely big in
like whale, in size, but they all have equal importance in life cycle,
so sustainable development can save many species from being extinct.
3) Abundance of Resources -
Sustainable Development emphasis on using natural resources
intelligently, so that present generation could meet their demands
without forgetting future generation . The future generation get health
future and abundance of resources.
5) Reduce Wastage - Sustainable
Development teaches us we should use minimum natural resources like
petrol, wood, water. This will reduce extra pressure on our natural
resources. so that it can be preserved for next generation.

What do you mean by Natural Resources?
Resources, water, sun and wood, in nature is utilized by human beings and other animals for their survival is called Natural Resources. There are two types of Natural Resources.
Natural Resources |
1) Renewable Resources
The Natural Resources available in abundance, which doesn't end, called
renewable resources. For example water, Sun and wind. Natural Resources
can be utilize for generating electricity, which don't emit poisonous
gas in nature. Renewable resources are also good for sustainable
development.
i) Solar Energy - The sun has been the main
sources of energy and it is being used to generate electricity using
solar panel and warm up water using solar water heater. In Madhya
Paradesh, India has set up Asia's biggest solar power plant.
ii) Wind Energy -
Wind Energy is also used to convert mechanical energy into electrical
energy and to run windmills, so it reduces the use of coal and fossil
fuel to produce power. It promotes sustainable development.
iii) Water Energy -
In Dam, water is stored to run turbines. Turbines convert mechanical
energy into electrical energy, which is used for domestic and commercial
purposes. Rain water can be stored in tanks for irrigation and domestic
use.
2) Non-Renewable Resources
Natural Resources wood, coal, petrol which
are limited in nature, called Non-Renewable Resources. Non-Renewable
Resources also emit harmful gases in nature which is the main cause of
global warming, so we should switch to renewable natural resources.
i) Petrol - Petrol is used for transportation which emit harmful gases and the main cause of air pollution and global warming.
ii) Coal -
Coal is also used for generation electricity. In India 75% electricity
is generated by using coal which emit large amount of pollution in
nature.
iii) Wood - Wood is used for fire in home and in
factories which also produced harmful gases. Indian government has taken
initiative providing LPG to each home.
What do you mean by Eco System?
Eco
System is system which is consist of Plants, animals, and human who
are dependent on each other to survive. The relationship between living
organism and their environment forms an Eco System.
What is Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable substance?
1) Biodegradable Substance: A substance which react with water and soil and degrade in environment after sometime is called Biodegradable Substance.
For example: Plant, Dead Animals, Paper etc
2) Non - Biodegradable Substance: A substance which does not reach with water and soil and does not degrade in environment is called Non - Biodegradable Substance.
For example: Plastic, Paint, Chemical etc.
