What is Self-Awareness?

Self-Awareness is a thinking skill. We know a lot of things about outer world, but how much we understand our self.

  • Do we know our strength?
  • Do we know our weaknesses?
  • Do we know our emotions?
  • Do we know our like and dislikes?

Self-Awareness is a tool to tune our behavior and emotions. When we are self-aware, we can perform better in work place which would result in a healthy life.

These are the different types of Self-Awareness

1) Self-Awareness of weakness:  Discovering in which domain we are weak, it’ll helps us to decide which types of activity to avoid. On the other hand it also helps to select our teammates. It’s natural that in some fields we are better and in other field weak.

2) Self-Awareness of strengths: We should take some time to introspect about our strengths because it’ll help us to improve our output. We can ask to our self:

  • In what types of project we never get bored?

 

After understanding our strengths, we can choose right project and profession.

3) Self-Awareness of emotional triggers: We feel stressed in some situation and sometime get angry or upset. Therefore we should get aware the triggers for these emotions. After awareness of our triggers, we can manage our emotions in better ways.

 

4) Self-Awareness of dark sides: Dark side means sometimes people lie or sometimes they twist truth that affects everyone in a group. Therefore awareness of dark side helps to manage a situation.

How to set SMART goal?

There is a SMART method to set short and long term goal in life.

1) Specific: A goal should be clear and well defined. For example you want to be a rich then specific goal is how much money you want.

2) Measurable: A goal should be measurable. If you have goal 10 crore  in five years then your progress should be clear and visible each year.

3) Achievable:  You should focus on short term goal to achieve long term goal. For example writers focus on writing chapters and novels completes itself.

4) Realistic: Your goal should be realistic and within your reach. For example thirty year old person sets a goal to qualify NDA exam which is unrealistic.

5) Time Bond: A goal should have a dead line. Without deadline goal loses its importance.


What is Self-Motivation?

Self-Motivation can be defined as:

 

1) Self-Motivation is a kind of mentoring oneself in tough situation when you’re thinking to give up.

 

2) Self-Motivation gives reason and strength to complete a task to achieve your goal.

 

3) Self-Motivation sometimes means working against oneself. It’s a kind of internal struggle that we everyday face.

 

4) Self-Motivation makes us independent. We don’t depend on anyone to push to work.


What is Self-Regulation?

Self-Regulation is a process in which we set a long term goal and break it down into small steps. For example we have long year goal to write a book then we’ll break down this goal in an action plan monthly or weekly basic. We also daily monitor our progress that we are following our action plan.

 

This process has three steps:

1) Planning: First of all we need to break down our goal into an action plan and seducing daily tasks. In planning we write all tasks on a dairy and maintain a journal.

 

2) Monitoring: In this stage we need to execute our plan and monitoring self performance and if needed making real time adjustment in our action plan. 

 

3) Reflection: In this stage after achieving the goal, we need to observe our action plan that how effective was the action plan. So that in future when designing new action plan we could use our experience and make a better action plan. 

 

There are many model of self-regulation. Self-Regulation is the best method to gain deeper insights.

Why time management is important?

Time management helps to utilize time effectively.  It helps us to complete tasks in time and increases our productivity.

Four Steps of Time Management:

1) Organise: Daily tasks should be organized. It will help to reach monthly goals. Organized work also saves a lot of time.

2) Prioritise: Tasks should be prioritise because all tasks aren’t importance, so all work should be in order according to its importance.

3) Control:  You should have control on your time and spend time on work which helps to achieve your goals. You shouldn’t waste time in unproductive and unimportant work.

4) Track: You should track your time which would reduce your wastage of time. You can track every day before going to bed that how you spent your time.
