What is Computer Network?
A network is a communication system, which allows the transfer of data between different computer systems. In other words, a network is a series of computer systems that are linked together so that they are able to share computing power or storage facilities.

Explain different types of computer network?
Computer network are categorize according to how they are organized physically, the ways in which they are used and the distance over which they can operate.
1) Personal Area Network (PAN)
2) Local Area Network (LAN)
3) Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
4) Wide Area Network (WAN)
1) Personal Areas Network:
PAN is a computer network organized around an individual person. Personal Area Networks typically involve a mobile computer, a cell phone and a handheld computing device. Less than 10 meters is the coverage area of this network.
2) Local Area Network:
LAN is a small area network. Usually this small area is within a single building. About 1.5 km is the maximum length for LAN. Sometimes LAN spread through several building on the same site like in school campus.

3) Metropolitan Area Network:
MAN is a expended network over many cities, and it implies several networks working together over a wide area of about 100 km. for example a cable network in a city.
4) Wide Area Network:
WAN covers a wide geographical area. Using WAN computers may be linked together in different countries using satellites, microwaves or telecommunication links. It is also called Internet.
What are the Advantages and Disadvantage of Computer Networking?
Advantages:
1) 1) Expensive devices such as laser printer and scanners can be shared between users.
2) 2) Messages can be sent between users in the same site with LAN.
3) 3) All users can access the same files so this avoids having duplicate information.
4) 4) Software can be shared on LAN.
Disadvantages:
1) 1) Wiring can be expensive both to buy and to install.
2) 2) File security is more important with networks especially if they are connected to the public telephone.
3) 3) Virus can spread from one computer to another computer easily.
